with a first batter Joe Yanerella
triple and kept hitting from there.
Scoring 5 runs in 2 of the first 3 innings
and getting hits from the entire lineup,
all game long, especially the bottom of the
order allowed acting managers Jack Baxter
and Bob Digglemann to give Vic another present
in addition to his new grandchild.

Mark Battistoni, Angelo Splendorio,
and Donny Black all had 4 hits.
Joe Yanerella, Ray Greco, Phil Chontos,
and Stan Silverman had 3 hits.

Week 2 (05/05)

COUNTRY CORNERS(14) at JUNIORS TOO(7)

COUNTRY CORNERS
It was the Thrilla from Digilla and
Country Corners came out swinging.
Leading from the first inning,
Country Corners scored in almost
every inning while The Cornermen
shut Juniors Too down. Complete game
winning pitcher Angelo Sblendorio
threw a masterful game and even had
a 1-2-3 inning on less than 5 pitches.
He helped his own cause with a
3 run homerun. Angelo was helped out
by some outstanding infield defense
and some smart and aggressive
baserunning hustle.

Bill Hanchett stroked 3 hits.
Joe Yanarella, Mark Battistoni,
Bob Digglemann, Donny Black and
Phil Chontos all had 2 hits.
Angelo Sblendorio, Bob LaRegina,

HOOK&LADDER
At big Digilio Field Hook and
Ladder found just enough offense to
overcome a sometimes shaky defense
to beat A & R 12-10 to even their
record at 1-1. The Laddermen rode
the arm of winning pitcher Big John McGowan,
who kept the potent A & R offense mostly
under control; and hitting contributions
throughout the lineup,
as follows:
Emil Viola 2/3 2B 3 RBI ,
Victor Quinton 2/3 with a booming 2 run HR,
Big Mac 3/3 RBI,
Tom Hotailing 2/3 RBI,
John Durso 2/3,
Paul Morales 2/3 RBI,
Carl Parris 2/3/
Ralph Bondi 2/3,
Joe Versace 2/3,
Rich Sicardo 1/3 RBI,
Joe Wassweiler 1/3 2B RBI
John Finaro 1/3 RBI.
Tommy Mirande also chipped in an RBI

COUNTRY CORNERS(28) at MEADOWBROOK(18)

COUNTRY CORNERS
Country Corners beat Meadowbrook Farms
today by the score of 28-18.
Pitcher Angelo Sblendorio kept
Meadowbrook off of the board for the
first two innings while the Cornermen
scored 9 unanswered runs.
Meadowbrook attempted to come back but
Country Corners just kept scoring.
Aided by some great defense, including
a great catch in right field by
Donny Black and some great infield plays,
Country Corners was able to pull off a
victory and secure first place in the league.

Everyone had at least one hit. Joe Yanarella,
Mark Battistoni, Bill Hanchett, Phil Chontos,
and Stan Silverman all had 4 hits.
Joe Yanarella hit a homerun.
Mark Battistoni, John Cacciola, Phil Chontos,
Stan Silverman, and Jim Guaraccia
all hit triples.
There may have been other significant
offensive achievements but I cant
read Vics scorebook without the aid
of the Rosetta Stone.
MEADOWBROOK
Lets put it simply, CC came to play
hitting wise and we didnt.
CC fielded well and we didnt.
CC played well overall and didnt
allow us back in the game and
competed throughout.
It was an old fashion butt kicking.
